Vacation Checklist: How To Prepare

241

Going on vacation is an exciting time but it is also important to make sure you don’t leave anything behind. Make a list of the things you will need when you are relaxed. This way you won’t forget to put anything on the list. Pack your suitcase a few days before you leave with items you don’t use on a daily basis. This will help reduce the chance that you leave something you needed behind on the big day.

Tips for Packing

Check the weather for the area where you will be vacationing. It is important to note whether the weather will be warm, cold or rainy. Make a list of the type of clothing you should pack. If you need to purchase a few clothing items, make a separate shopping list. Don’t forget to include clothes for daytime, evening and sleeping attire. After you have made a list of the clothes, make a list of accessories and shoes.

Pack the toiletries you use daily in a bag. On the morning of your trip you will simply grab the bag and put it in your carry on. This will ensure you have your daily necessities with you. Pack the rest of your clothes in a suitcase that will be checked at the baggage counter. Add snacks to your list if you will be traveling out of the country.

Simple snacks such as chips, cookies and protein bars are easy to pack in your carry on. Keep in mind you won’t be able to pack bottled water or liquids in your carry on bag. Visit your airline’s website to find out which items are not allowed in your checked luggage and carry on bags. Visit the hotel’s website where you will be staying for helpful tips about the area.

Don’t Forget These Items

If you are traveling to the beach or a sunny area, don’t forget sunscreen. Many people go on vacation and get a severe sunburn on the first day of their trip. This can ruin your vacation before it gets started. Also, don’t forget airline tickets, itineraries, boarding passes and your passport or identification. If you take medication, be sure your name is on the bottle. Pack medications in your carry on. If you are going to the beach, be sure to put your swimsuit in your carry on bag, in case you want to relax on the beach before check in time at the hotel.

Think Safety While Traveling

When you are on vacation, it is easy to get relaxed and forget about following simple safety rules. Be cautious, especially at night while traveling in an unfamiliar area. It is best to tour the sights with a partner or family member. If you do travel alone, visit places that have a lot of people around. Don’t wear expensive jewelry while traveling. You could become the victim of theft. Carry a variety of traveler’s checks, cash and credit cards. If you lose your cash, there is not much you can do. When you carry traveler’s checks you can have them replaced quickly.
